Alice Springs

Continuing our journey we flew for just over 3 hours from Perth to Alice Springs.  Changed our clocks again (+1.5 hrs).

In its brief 125 year history it has gone from a simple telegraph station to a modern town and a major supply centre for the region.  The normally dry Todd River  hosts the annual Henley-on-Todd Regatta.  Races are held for sailing boats, doubles, racing eights and every boat class you can think of .  The boats are all bottomless and the crews' legs stick out and they simply run down the dry river bed.

There are plenty of places to visit that recall the pioneer history of 'Alice'.
