We had some more snow this afternoon. It’s starting to impact upon our social calendar,.
Pretty as it might be….GO AWAY!!!
I thought that this was an interesting shape in a local children’s playground.
The e Archimedean screw or the screwpump is a machine historically used for transferring water from a low-lying body of water into irrigation ditches. It was one of several inventions and discoveries traditionally attributed to Archimedes in the 3rd century BCE.
A beautiful sunny day but oh so cold. We planned a walk in the Peak District around Castleton, but the roads were treacherous with black ice. The ‘Plan B’ walk was around the woods of pretty South West Sheffield.
The temperature never made it above freezing and the sun was very low all day. The warm pub at the end has never felt better!
The puppies are teething and they take the opportunity to chew almost anything. So far we have managed to avoid any disasters but several threats of glue factories in Shanghai have been issued…..
The history of coal mining in our area goes back to the 17th century and in the 19th century there were around a dozen mines in Barlborough.
A memorial to all the men who worked in the mines, in the form of a pit head winding wheel was erected on the on the site of the country park in 2007.
The frost has added a frozen edge to our weathervane
Out walking the puppies today and the sky suddenly started to darken, threatening snow through the sunshine. The frost overnight had been very hard and the trees a frozen spectacle……and I had forgotten my camera!!!
Luckily I had my phone.
