Cairns
We flew out of Ayers Rock, delayed by a torrential rain storm. Now this is very unusual as they haven't really had any rain to mention for 5 years or so....the state of repair of the umbrellas at the airport was understandable!
Our beautiful hotel in Cairns was the Tradewinds, right on the esplanade with a balcony overlooking the pool, the Pacific Ocean and the Great Barrier Reef.
A lot of remodeling of the seafront at Cairns has just been completed. The esplanade is magnificent with boardwalks, jogging tracks, large areas of grass, and a huge free outdoor swimming pool.
The pool beckoned and well we had to be sociable!
